VRVRTub
A video player for Apple Vision Pro that brings your own videos — from your NAS, your files and, optionally, your YouTube account — into one immersive player.
What VRTub does
VRTub is a video player app for Apple Vision Pro (visionOS). VRTub plays videos from sources you already own or have access to:
Your own sources
SMB network shares (NAS) and local files.
Immersive formats
Standard, 3D, 180° and 360° videos, played in a spatial environment.
Generated subtitles
Subtitles generated from a video's audio using on-device speech recognition, with optional on-device translation.
Moments
Save snapshots of favorite moments while you watch.
Optional YouTube integration
If you choose to, you can sign in with your Google account to use YouTube inside VRTub. After signing in you can:
- browse your YouTube subscriptions;
- open your playlists and your Liked videos;
- browse trending videos and search YouTube;
- play those videos in VRTub.
Access is read-only (scope youtube.readonly). VRTub cannot post, like, subscribe, comment or change anything in your YouTube account. YouTube sign-in is entirely optional; every other feature works without it.
How sign-in works
VRTub uses Google's sign-in flow for "TVs and Limited Input devices". The app shows a short code. You open google.com/device in the headset's browser or on another device, enter the code, and approve access on Google's own page. VRTub never sees your Google password.
You can sign out at any time from the app's Accounts tab. See the Privacy Policy for exactly what data is accessed and how it is handled.
Who it is for
VRTub is for Apple Vision Pro owners who want to watch their personal video library — on a home NAS or on the device — and their YouTube feeds in an immersive player. It is not directed to children under 13.
Privacy at a glance
- Nothing you watch or sign in to is sent to the developer.
- Sign-in tokens and passwords are stored only on your device, in the Apple Keychain.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking.
- Subtitles are generated on the device; audio never leaves it.
